The Challenge
The PGA TOUR sanctions over 130 golf competitions per year with members across 24 different countries.
With integrity and the unpredictability of competitions at the heart of golf’s global appeal, the PGA TOUR is responsible for ensuring that its event remain transparent and fully protected against any betting-related corruption.
Our Solution
In September 2017, the PGA TOUR selected Genius Sports to help devise and deliver a new Integrity Program. Genius Sports provided a thorough audit of the TOUR’s existing rules and regulations around betting which already prohibited players from betting on any TOUR-related events.
Both parties subsequently devised a first-of-its-kind Integrity Program, combining 24/7 bet monitoring with specialist educational services.
The Result
The PGA TOUR launched its new Integrity Program in January 2018, designed to “maintain integrity and prevent and mitigate betting-related corruption in PGA TOUR competitions.”
Genius Sports’ bet monitoring system is providing the TOUR with 24/7 protection. It compares real-time odds movements from betting markets worldwide with predictive algorithms to clearly highlight any potentially suspicious activity.
Genius Sports has also developed a customised e-learning platform which the PGA TOUR has made mandatory for all players, caddies and officials. It enables the TOUR to clearly demonstrate the rules, expectations and consequences associated with betting-related corruption for stakeholders around the world.
