Genius Sports strikes expanded VideoCheck partnership with AVC and four national federations

  • VideoCheck is the leading video referral system in world volleyball for detecting live fouls and infringements
  • Asian Volleyball Confederation has extended their deal to use VideoCheck while providing expert training for national federations
  • Genius Sports has struck new VideoCheck agreements with four national federations across Asia

Genius Sports Limited (“Genius Sports”) has clinched an expansion of its partnership with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (“AVC”) to help distribute its cutting-edge video referral system VideoCheck across its members.

The AVC has used VideoCheck at its events including the Asian Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Championships since 2019 and is now providing specialist training on the technology for national federations.

Genius Sports has recently struck new VideoCheck agreements with the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, Philippine National Volleyball Federation, the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia and the National Volleyball Association of Indonesia, with the AVC helping across product implementation and training.

VideoCheck is powered by a minimum of 14 and up to 23 high-speed cameras at courtside, providing high-quality, slow-motion replays for coaches and referees to challenge in-game decisions. Directly integrated with in-stadia screens to enhance the fan experience, VideoCheck detects everything from ball in/out calls to service line faults and net touches, enhancing the accuracy of key refereeing decisions.

“VideoCheck is a popular officiating software interface which has already achieved its new heights in many important Asian Championships including the Seniors and Club competitions,” said AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai. “The user-friendly design with an uncomplicated setup of VideoCheck suits the fundamental needs of AVC affiliated federations to learn it and understand its management. With the AVC’s full support in providing federations special training, I strongly believe that those federations will gain new skills to explore VideoCheck as an effective way to reach their goals while hosting future AVC events and this will lead to sustainable development of Asian volleyball.”

“Automated and semi-automated officiating tools have become critically important across world sports,” said Mohamed Feizel, Head of Sports and Broadcast, APAC at Genius Sports. “Led by VideoCheck, volleyball has been at the forefront of this trend, and we’re thrilled to expand our partnerships with the AVC and four members to enhance refereeing across Asian volleyball with more national federations to follow suit.
