Our Division – Media & Engagement 

We power the world’s first cross-channel digital sports marketing platform, leveraging our world class sports data technology and partnerships to help our sports, brand and media clients discover, acquire, engage and monetise sports audiences. 

Our media & engagement division is a large global commercial, delivery and engineering team of sports industry experts. We deliver for our partners through providing a full service offering that combines our industry-leading programmatic media capabilities with our data-driven AI video creative platform and our specialisation in the development of custom and white label gamified fan engagement solutions (ie free-to-play games). 

The Role 

Reporting into the Head of Sales, Fan Engagement, EMEA and APAC, the Senior Business Development Manager, Fan Engagement, will be responsible for generating new commercial opportunities with sports rights holders (federations, leagues and teams), broadcasters and publishers – centred around Genius Sports’ wide suite of digital marketing and fan engagement solutions & services. 

We are looking for an established Senior BD professional who has a consultative objectives-lead style to sales and is passionate about the intersection of sports & technology - to join our media and engagement commercial team in London.  

Main Responsibilities 

  • Maximise new business development opportunities from sports rights holder, broadcaster and publisher clients across EMEA. 
  • Deeply understand and clearly convey Genius Sports’ digital marketing and fan engagement solutions and services to new clients in a consultative fashion. 
  • Identify new leads and maintain an active pipeline in Salesforce that is visible to the wider commercial and delivery teams. 
  • Own the sales process with relevant prospects from discovery through to proposal and the ultimate negotiation of new digital marketing and fan engagement product contracts. 
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior marketing decision makers within the sports and media industry. 
  • Attend industry conferences and events to seek out new business opportunities, with possible opportunity for travel across Europe where appropriate. 
  • Work closely with our account management and product teams to ensure we are scoping and devising the right solution and strategy for each prospective client, and oversee transition of successful agreements through to delivery. 
  • Create tailored sales collateral, leveraging existing templates, to strongly position our solutions and capabilities for targeted prospects. 
  • In some cases, own the commercial relationship with key existing clients to enable the smooth renewal and growth of these accounts. 
  • Ultimately work towards exceeding your personal revenue targets, including ensuring you are cross-selling all of the various solutions and services across the full media and engagement portfolio. 

Required Skills 

  • 3 years + experience in a digital or technology focused company selling digital solutions and/or software and/or services. Sports industry experience preferred. 
  • High level communication skills (written and verbal), and excellent pitching qualities 
  • Preferred eExisting relationships and/or prior book of business with key organisations, or clientele, in one (or more) of the following areas: Sports rights holders (federations, leagues, teams), sports broadcasters, sports publishers  
  • A good understanding of the digital product development, preferably as it relates to helping sports organisations achieve their commercial and marketing objectives. 
  • A passion for sports and ideally an avid user of sports focused digital products such as fantasy games 
  • Preferred, but not required, level of understanding of ad serving, programmatic media buying and social media advertising 
  • A dedicated focus on being a strong team player, with ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment.  
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and negotiate at various levels to obtain decision maker buy-in.  
  • A proven track record of successfully over-achieving sales targets 
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings
